40+ Years Building Diesel Engines That Last

US Engine Production Inc has been remanufacturing diesel engines since 1985. We've built over 100,000 engines for fleets, owner-operators, and shops across all 50 states. We're not a broker — every engine is remanufactured in our facility by our own technicians.

Our database covers 473,000+ engine configurations spanning every major diesel platform: Cummins, Caterpillar, Detroit Diesel, Ford Powerstroke, GM Duramax, International, Volvo, Mack, and more.

How We Got Here

US Engine Production started in 1985 as a small engine rebuilding shop on Long Island. The diesel engine market was different then — most fleets ran mechanical Cummins NTC and Big Cam engines, CAT 3406B and 3406C models, and Detroit Diesel 6V92 two-strokes. We cut our teeth on those platforms.

As emissions regulations changed the industry — first with electronic fuel injection in the late 1990s, then EGR in 2002, DPF in 2007, and SCR in 2010 — we adapted. Each generation of emissions technology brought new challenges and new failure modes. We invested in training, tooling, and diagnostic equipment to stay ahead of those changes.

Today, we remanufacture engines from every era: pre-emissions mechanical diesels, early electronic models, and current Tier 4 Final / EPA 2024+ platforms. Our facility handles everything from a 3.9L Cummins 4BT to a 15-liter Cummins ISX or CAT C15. We've shipped engines to all 50 states and built a reputation that fleet managers, independent shops, and owner-operators trust.

We're still family-owned, still on Long Island, and still doing what we've done for four decades: building engines that work.

The People Behind the Engines

We're a team of diesel engine specialists — not general mechanics. Every person on our floor has deep experience with the specific platforms we remanufacture.

Leadership Team

Ownership & Management

US Engine Production is a family-owned business, founded in 1985 on Long Island, New York. Our leadership team brings combined decades of experience in diesel engine remanufacturing, supply chain management, and customer service. We're not a faceless corporation — when you call, you talk to people who know engines.

Engine Technicians

Remanufacturing Floor

Our technicians average 15+ years of hands-on experience rebuilding diesel engines. They've worked on everything from Cummins ISX to CAT 3406E to Detroit Series 60. Many came from OEM dealerships and independent diesel shops before joining our team. They don't just follow manuals — they understand why each spec matters.

Technical Sales Team

Customer Support & Quoting

Our sales team isn't just order-takers. They're trained to help you identify the correct engine for your application based on VIN, ESN, CPL, and arrangement numbers. They can tell you the difference between a Cummins ISX CM870 and CM2250, and why it matters for your truck.

Engines We Know Inside and Out

We don't remanufacture everything — we specialize in the diesel platforms that power America's trucks, equipment, and fleets. Here's what we bring to the table for each engine family.

Cummins

ISX 15, N14, M11, ISB 6.7, ISC 8.3, ISL 9, B5.9

We've remanufactured more Cummins engines than any other brand. The ISX 15 is our highest-volume engine — we know every revision from the pre-EGR models through the current CM2350. We stock cores for every major Cummins platform.

Browse Cummins Engines

Caterpillar

C15, C13, C12, C10, C9, C7, 3406E, 3406B

CAT engines are built like tanks, but the ACERT system on C13 and C15 models needs specific expertise. We've developed our own rebuild procedures for the ACERT variable valve timing system that go beyond what the CAT service manual covers.

Browse Caterpillar Engines

Detroit Diesel

DD15, DD13, Series 60 (12.7L & 14L), 8V92, 6V92

The DD15 is the backbone of the Freightliner Cascadia fleet. We've remanufactured thousands of them and know the common failure points — amplified common rail injectors, turbo actuator failures, and EGR cooler leaks. Our DD15 rebuilds address all of these proactively.

Ford Powerstroke

6.7L Scorpion, 6.0L, 7.3L, 6.4L

The 6.7L Powerstroke is Ford's best diesel yet, but the CP4.2 injection pump is its Achilles' heel. Every 6.7L we remanufacture gets a new CP4.2 and updated fuel system components. We also bulletproof 6.0L Powerstrokes with updated EGR coolers and head studs.

GM Duramax

6.6L (LB7, LLY, LBZ, LMM, LML, L5P), 2.8L

The Duramax 6.6L has gone through six generations, each with different injector systems and emissions equipment. The LBZ is the most sought-after for performance builds. The LB7 is known for injector failures. We know every generation inside and out.

Browse GM Duramax Engines

International / Navistar

DT466, DT530, MaxxForce 7/9/10/13, A26

The DT466 is one of the most reliable medium-duty diesels ever made. The MaxxForce series had well-documented EGR problems that International eventually addressed. We remanufacture both platforms and know exactly which components need upgrading.

How We Remanufacture a Diesel Engine

Remanufacturing isn't just "rebuilding." It's a controlled process that returns an engine to OEM specifications — or better. Here's exactly what happens to every engine that comes through our shop.

01

Core Inspection & Evaluation

Every engine core goes through a 47-point inspection. We check for cracked blocks, scored cylinder walls, damaged crankshaft journals, and warped heads. Roughly 30% of cores we receive don't pass inspection — we reject them rather than risk quality.

02

Complete Disassembly & Cleaning

Engines are torn down to the bare block. Every component is hot-tanked, then glass-bead blasted. Cylinder bores are measured with dial bore gauges to determine if they need boring or honing. Crankshafts are magnafluxed to detect hairline cracks invisible to the naked eye.

03

Precision CNC Machining

Cylinder bores are honed to within 0.0005" of spec. Crankshaft journals are ground and polished. Head decks are surfaced to achieve flatness within 0.002" across the full surface. We use CNC equipment — not manual machines — because diesel tolerances demand it.

04

New OEM-Grade Components

Every remanufactured engine gets new pistons, rings, bearings, gaskets, seals, and timing components. We source from OEM suppliers — not aftermarket knockoffs. On a Cummins ISX, that means new Mahle pistons and Clevite bearings. On a CAT C15, OEM-spec ACERT components.

05

Assembly by Experienced Technicians

Our technicians have an average of 15+ years on the bench. They torque every fastener to manufacturer spec using calibrated torque wrenches. Bearing clearances are verified with Plastigage. Piston ring end gaps are checked and filed to spec. Nothing is assumed — everything is measured.

06

Dynamometer Run Testing

Every engine is run-tested before it ships. We verify horsepower output, torque curves, oil pressure at idle and operating RPM, coolant temperature stability, and compression balance across all cylinders. If an engine doesn't hit its numbers, it goes back to the bench.

What Sets Us Apart

We Build — We Don't Broker

Every engine is remanufactured in our own facility by our own technicians. We don't buy from third parties and slap our name on it.

Every Engine Is Dyno Tested

We don't ship untested engines. Every unit runs on our dynamometer before it leaves the building. You get the test results with your engine.

We Know the Failure Points

After 40 years and 100,000+ engines, we know what fails on each platform. We address those weak points proactively during remanufacturing — not after you've installed it.

Nationwide Shipping

We ship to all 50 states. Most engines ship within 3-5 business days. We handle freight logistics so you don't have to.

Warranty You Can Count On

Our warranty covers parts and labor. We stand behind every engine we build because we know what went into it.
